Mosquito Project at SSLS
Children
of SSLS kindergarten are fishing with a syringe

In the end of their "sunflower project " children of Sharm El Sheikh
Language School (SSLS) kept flowers in a vase.
After some weeks Ali, one of the
children, discovered that the water under one faded sunflower contained a great
number of swimming animals. To observe these "fishes" each child received a sample
of this water in a self-made aquarium, a 5-mL ampoule and a 1-mL syringe
which was cut at the top.

Photo 4: The children were
"fishing" the animals very clever: They learned how to fill the syringe and to
transfer water and animals into their 5-mL bottle.
Right: 15 labeled samples
of "worms" and "dots" were the result of half an hour work in three small
groups. Each child kept its bottle closed in a way that fresh air could enter,
but no animals could escape.
