EleE07 Iron forms a magnetic and a non-magnetic oxide

Many soils contains more or less of magnetic iron ore  (experiment so 9).  The most important iron ores are oxides: Magnetite black blue, Hematite has the red colour of red iron oxide.
 * Left:     Pure red iron oxide is not attracted by a magnet.
* Middle: The black iron oxide formed by the combustion of iron oxide is magentic.
* Right: Dry red soil from a place called Rotes Moor (Rhön) is powdered and stirred by a magnet..
Observation: The magnet attracts black powder from the red soil even through a glass vial.
Explanation: next experiment.
