black blue, Hematite has the red colour of red iron oxide.

Pure red iron oxide is not attracted by a magnet.

iron oxide formed by the combustion of iron oxide is magentic.
* Right: Dry red
soil from a place called Rotes Moor (Rhön) is powdered and stirred
by a magnet..
Observation:
The
magnet attracts black powder from the red soil even through a glass vial.
