Direct Redox reactions are electron transfer reactions in which the electrons are delivered directly = by contact between the electron donor and the electron acceptor.

Example: During reaction of sodium and chlorine each11Na atom gives 1 electron to have 10 electrons like atoms of 10Ne.
At the same time each 17Cl atom takes 1 electron to have 18 electrons like an argon atom 18Ar.
The Cl atom transforms into a chloride ion (Cl-) with a negative charge, the Na atom forms a Na-Ion (Na+)  whit a positive charge. (These ions attract each other forming the smallest unit of a sodium chloride lattice).
