substances in the air
* Photos 1 and 2:
Repeat the experiment with
the
fire extinguising gas CO2
* Photo 3: Cover the flame of a
micro
burner by the wide opening
of a vial.
* Hold a burning match into the vial like
shown on photo 4.
Not only the heavy gas carbon dioxide
(CO2) extinguishes flames.
A match is also extinguished by the rest
of the air in a turned vial.
Nitrogen of the air (N2) is
lighter than oxygen (O2).
