Fluorine hydrogen acid (HF) cannot be kept in a glass vial like hydrochloric
acid (HCl) and hydrobromic acid (HBr): HF corrodes glass.
Middle:
The three acids react with zinc: Gas bubbles (H2) and salt solutions
are formed.
Right:
Clear solutions are heated until white dry salts remain: ZnF2,
ZnCl2, ZnBr2. Only zinc fluoride forms crystals
without heating, the others are very hygroscopic.
