thinlayer foil for chromatography (silicagel), scissors, methylated spirit.

35 mm piece of this foil.
* Make to small dots on
the white layer about 2 mm above its lower end.
* Photo 2:
Transfer 10 drops of methylated spirit to the vial, add the foil like seen
on the photo.

in the white layer dissolving 3 dyes from the black dot.

3: The black colour was separated into yellow, violet and blue components
which move upwards in the white layer.
* Right: You
may isolate the yellow, violet and blue colours by scratching the silicagel
fom the the foil.
Explanation:
The yellow, violet and blue components of the black mixture are dissolved
in the liquid and transported upwards with different speeds.
