Su11 Foamed polystyrene: A mixture of few polystyrene and a lot of air

A Yoghurt beaker and  foamed polystyrene are made of the same plastic material.
The beaker is mainly polystyrene (PS), most of the foamed material (EPS) is air locked in closed pores of polystyrene.
* Right: Both are burning with a black smoke.
* Left: Place a piece of foamed polystyrene  (4 cm x 5cm x 5 cm =100 ml) on the left side of your scale and
balance it by the bottom of a beaker. * Both samples have a weight of 1.4 g = 1400 mg.
* Middle: Polystyrene does not float in water.

1 ml foamed polystyrene weighs 14 mg its density: 0,014 g/ml =     14 mg/ml.
Polystyrene has a greater density than water:                              > 1000 mg/ml.
1 ml of air usually weighs > 1 mg.  Its density is:                             >       1 mg/ml.
