Su12 Density of a gold piece: Is it a pure substance?

Gold is used for instance to bridge a gap between two teeth.
If such a bridge were made of pure gold, it must have a density of 19.0 g per ml.

* Right: The gold of the bridge weighed 8.6 g.
* Left:  In a measuring cylinder made of a 10 ml syringe the gold of the bridge replaced
                      0.5 ml of water.
* The density of the gold sample is 8.6 g/0.5 ml = 17.2 g/ml
