W2 Not only water can be divided into smaller and smaller particles: From litre to millilitre (mL)

Matter (even living beings are matter) needs space: They have a certain volume and a certain weight.

On the photos left and middle 4 different containers and a wooden cube can be seen. All of them have a volume of 1 litre.  Eveb the glass container on the very left edge is not empty: It contains 1 litre of air.
The 1-litre TetaPak container is much higher than the 1-litre wooden cube right of it which is 10 cm high, 10 cm deap and 10 cm broad.
Right: This wooden cube of 1 litre volume can be divided into 10 slices. Each of them has 1/10 litre = 100 millilitre (ml).
Each slice can be divided into 10 stripes with a volume of 1/100 litre = 10 ml.
Each of these stripes can be divided into 10 small cubes. Each of these cubes has 1/100 litre = 10 ml.

Experiment
1. Cut a big potato into slices of 1 cm thickness.
2. Cut them into 1 cm broad potato stripes ("pomme frites").
3. Make 1-cm cubes from them.
4. Keep them at a warm place for some days.
